Dear Sr Mary Paul

Thank you for your mail and good wishes.

I am in total agreement with your view as regards the potential risk to Sr Paula.

I had been on our annual holiday in Tanzania when the atrocities erupted in Kenya, and was aware via the media as well as my contact in Nairobi of the grave and wreckless violence.

Just before my return to the UK I liased with my fellow committee members in London and advised them that it would be far too risky for Sr Paula to travel for the time being, given the precarious political circumstances which, I am reliably informed, remain unsettled to date.

I have also spoken with Sr Hildergardis who agreed with me and thought it wise to abandon the plan for Sr Paula's attendance at the Re-Union.

Consequently we will, no doubt, miss Sr Paula dearly at the Re-Union; but I am sure the SJCS alumni will understand and keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

On behalf of the committee I thank you nevertheless for taking the time to obtain sanction from Rome, and indeed for your own consent in the first instance.

We pray that God be with you All and may He calm the tension in the minds of the people and its leaders for a swift return to peace.

I am copying this mail to my fellow committee members for their information;
I trust you do not mind.

Yours sincerely

John Coutinho

Dear Mr. Coutinho,

Greetings from Nairobi. I hope you had a good Christmas and that the New Year will bring you many blessings.

I am writing to let you know that I think that it is not quite safe for Sr. Paula to travel to India due to the present political crisis in Kenya.

I am sorry about it and It is my prayer that all the old students will understand.

Wishing you God's Blessings,

Sr. Mary Paul Wamatu

Here's One for a laugh, Betty once caught a tummy bug (one time only), our Flying Doctor arrived on his motor bike. A quick examination and Dr Sandesh gave her one jab on one cheek, asked her to turn over and gave a second jab on the other cheek - think he liked her cheeks!!. I was fortunate to be introduced to Lea during the BMX Reunion Celebrations last year, Lea in turn introduced us to all the main MD's where all negotiations were done directly.

Until today on a regular daily basis Lea has assisted us and continues to do so as a key player.

I take this opportunity of thanking Lea Mathias on behalf of all our SJCS Zanzibar Goa Reunion team. Lea welcomes one and all to Goa and looks forward to saying hi to you. Lea is also a member of the BMX Organising committee.

LETS GO SOUTH. ONE or TWO NIGHTS - 7th & 8th FEBRUARY 2008

Oliver Fernandes invites us to spend a couple of days down South and as such a wonderful beach hotel LONGUINHOS has been selected. Last year we made a trip to view the hotel and we liked it very much. Hotel approved by Pervin, Mervyn, Oliver, Betty and myself. The deal is also attractive - rooms well priced

Interested folks, please email Oliver Fernandes and myself. If we have 40 and over, we are offered a special deal for the evenings dinner. We can either stay overnight or go by coach for the evening. Some of us are planning to spend two nights. A great extension to our SJCS Goa Reunion. A chance to enjoy the lovely sea breeze and beautiful beaches down South. Please see what is on offer. (Posting by Oliver Fernandes).

Dear Benny - Went to Longuinos and met the people who mattered and have got the rates for you.Rates from 10th Jan to 31st March as followsSuite - Rs. 3000/- Single - Rs. 2200/- Double - Rs. 2500/- extra Matress Rs. 500/- plus 8% tax.Now they have about 6 to 7 rooms and a few more and you have to do booking early. This is their Email longuinhos@dataone.in

Now you can contact either directly or if you want I can help out where necessary, but very important to book early, so if you know who are sure to be at Longuinhos do book early. Now I also saw them about the night out we would like to spend at their place and I have got the rates for dinner. Menus and price according to what we order but we have to tell them how many people in order to avail of their special rates. For instance I chose these items Fish paste on toast, corned beef sandwitches, mixed spring rolls, cocktail assorted vegetables, salad, fried fish with tartar sauce, chicken xacuti, pork sarpotel, vegetable pulao, vpaneer butter masala, gobi manchurin, bread, rotis and sannas, triffle pudding, bebinca. This will cost Rs 225/-per head. As far as drinks go you will pay as per their price.

They have agreed to allow us to bring our own Whisky bottles I think this is quite fair as they dont allow you normally to bring your own drinks. Now these rates are based on a minimum of 50 people.

P.S. Longinous have more rooms then 7 but will not commit as they are not sure if I am just seeking information, so if there are more people you can book directly. We can then see how many people are going to stay there and I will see if more people will attend the evening.Otherwise we can have A la Carte and no problem. Then if we do not want to eat at their place we have a lovely and famous Restaurant in South Goa known as Martins Corner and it is nearby, we can book there with whatever numbers we have, again a la carte. This is the most famous Restaurant in the South and the prices are reasonable.
Regards Oliver
