Precious Blood Sisters Welfare Fund - update
Thanks for your message re above and here is a brief explanation regarding the two funds.
With reference to the Nun's Fund that Anthony Antao was responsible, there was good response and money collected towards the Nun's Fund has been forwarded accordingly confirming that the original fund was intended to help them with their 'missionary' work.
This new 'Nuns Welfare Fund' is targeted at their personal needs, as you too have rightfully said, assisting with their health issues etc., and when this fund was introduced by the SJCS Goa Reunion Committee, was also intended towards funding of Sr. Paula's attendance at the reunion.
It is wonderful to learn that Sr. Paula will be attending the reunion (originally intended for two nuns), and to make this possible, we have to arrange her flight, accommodation with meals and hopefully some spending money. In our planning we had not made a request for this funding, nor had set aside reserves and as such, support from our SJCS members would certainly be well appreciated.
We welcome contributions from our SJCS alumni to the Welfare Fund, to cover the needs and welfare of the Precious Blood Sisters and to make it possible for one representative (Sr Paula) to attend the reunion. Some members may wish solely to help out with bringing Sr Paula to the reunion.
We have just made a good start with a cheque for £195 - donated by Lally (Cardozo) McDermott, ex SJCS - towards the Precious Blood Sisters Welfare Fund.
We do not have much time left and cannot set a deadline and as such, contributions received as early as possible would be appreciated.
Your kind support in your message highly appreciated and any plans you have in mind to support this issue would be most welcome.
Wishing you all A Happy New Year
P.S. Contributions to this Fund may be sent by cheque made payable to the appropriate Regional representative as noted below and endorsed on the back "Precious Blood Sisters Welfare Fund".
Please include email address/postal address for acknowledgement.
Regards
Benny

SJCS Zanzibar - Goa Reunion 2008 Registration
SJCS Zanzibar - Goa Reunion 2008 Registration - (Who can attend)
Last week, whilst in Toronto Canada attending the Tanzanite 25th Anniversary celebrations, a few folks I met at the dinner dance were enquiring whether they could attend SJCS Reunion Goa 2008, confirming they were not members nor from Zanzibar.
As it so happens, the folks I met were from Mombasa, and likewise similar requests have come from outsiders from Nairobi.
To clarify this issue, SJCS Zanzibar Goa Committee had agreed that we would entertain SJCS members bringing their friends and relatives as guests, mainly because we knew that many SJCS Members often visit Goa with their close friends, many members have relatives and friends who own properties in Goa which they share, and as Goa Venues are large enough to cater for large numbers, and as we had planned several functions, we felt there was no need to have any restrictions taking into account SJCS members would have sufficient time to meet up with their classmates during the course of their stay.
To conclude, St. Joseph’s Convent School ex-students are entitled to invite their close friends as their guests. This would mean they would have to register their friends under their names, and REGISTRATION has to be actioned in advance.
We have fortunately met our target for all the EVENTS we had to guarantee but have place for close friends with priority first to members.
All outsiders (folks not SJCS Members), we WELCOME you but you have to be introduced by a SJCS member.
REGRET NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE GATE.
We do not want SJCS members or their guests to expect admission at the gate, as it would be a great burden on committee members to handle cash and to make last minute arrangements, particularly for the dinner/dance and table placing. An item to be discussed by committee members at next meeting.
Hope this clarifies this issue.
Many thanks

TANZANITE 25th Anniversary Celebations 2007
Dear Members & Friends
Betty & I would like to share some photographs taken during our short visit to Toronto Canada mainly for the Tanzanite 25th Anniversary 2007. What a memorable time we have had meeting up with many of our Zanzibar folks and others.
During our 7 days stay, it has been an action packed week with non-stop parties. The hospitality and friendship we have enjoyed in Toronto Canada will remain with us for a long time and Canada has now become a trade mark in our future ventures which now makes it Zanzibar, Goa and Canada.
Please click on the links below to view the various activities enjoyed during our stay.
To all those we have met has brought love and friendship closer. Meeting up with the American Connection – JO and Co was wonderful to include Fatima who came all the way from Vancouver. Fatima certainly made us laugh as always, and thanks for treating us all the wonderful lunch party. Your singing at John & Rolina’s home was also a good treat.JO, I certainly share your good advice you have given and am now back home planning to take a good long break with plenty of swimming and walking. As you have seen I am over 2 stones overweight, I will keep away from the Computer and Internet for a time. What a wonderful time meeting up with you and not before long, we will meet up again.
P.S. I know I should not be releasing all this information on our SJCS Zanzibar website as it is not all to do with SJCSZ members, but as many of us met up, I have chosen to use our site as a Gateway to share photos with our members so they can see some of their friends and equally allow others to view photos via the SJCS Zanzibar Daily mail blog open to all.
Love and best wishes
Benito & Betty

TANZANITE 25th Anniversary 2007
Dear Members
The Greatest Show on Earth – “Tanzanite 25th Anniversary 2007”
Betty and I have just returned from The Greatest Show on Earth – “Tanzanite 25thAnniversary 2007”. It is now 2.30 am Sunday 7th October and I do not have time to give you fulldetails of the fabulous dinner dance we have attended, other than tell you that the Mendes Enterprising family in Toronto Canada do us all Zanzibari’s proud.
Several years ago I attended the 1st Tanzanite Reunion in Toronto organised byPop and Artie Mendes and to this date I have said it was the very best and there could never be another better. I am proud to say that our young enterprising President Arnold Mendes and his organising committee have produced the Greatest Show on Earth with a record of 870 Tanzanite’s who have attended the function which was top class.
Fabulous dance band provided top class music all night plus a DJ who added tothe entertainment. Good venue, great cabaret, with good food followed by a hot midnight buffet.
All those who were fortunate to attend have been privileged to enjoy a dream night and once again all I can say is CONGRATULATIONS to ArnoldMendes and his great team.
Hopefully you will see hundreds of professional photographs & video of this great events taken by Brendan Abreu and Arnold but for now my posting is just meeting up with other good friends from Zanzibar. GUESS WHO when you have a moment.
Tanzanite Organisation Toronto Canada rule ok. Keep it up and we will be back with you all next year to celebrate.

Morning at Home after the Dance October 7th 2007
Mass at noon followed by social
Dear Members
Sunday morning - another fabulous party.
Let the pictures tell the story as there is too much to say. Enjoy some of the action at this great social. I cannot fail to mention some of the wonderful talent we were privileged to enjoy of a young family entertaining. Lead singer just a little young kid you will see on stage wearing a red shirt. I predict he will be a great success in the music world in the future. Sorry I cannot remember names as they were new to me but I certainly wish them all the very best in the future. All the musicians who took part at the Jam Session were great and it was a pleasure listening and dancing to their music. Cannot fail to mention the lovely presentation made by Merwyn & Pervin Nunes to Pop & Artie. A wonderful photograph of Zanzibar. What a lovely gift to our legend Pop & Artie. Best wishes to one and all who attended and especially to Arnold and Co.
Look forward to joining all folks in Toronto Canada next year.
Love - Benny & Betty
